About SpendCast
SpendCast is an offline expense tracking app developed by Satheesh Mankulam. This Privacy Policy explains how SpendCast handles your information.
The core principle: SpendCast is designed to work entirely offline. It requires no account, no internet connection, and no cloud service to function. Your financial data never leaves your device.
What we do not collect
SpendCast does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:
- Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
- Financial data, expense records, or transaction history
- Location data or GPS coordinates
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Usage analytics or crash reports sent to external servers
- Contacts, camera, microphone, or media access
- Any data transmitted to our servers — we have none
What stays on your device
SpendCast stores the following data locally on your device only, using your Android device's built-in storage:
- Your expense entries (amount, title, category, date)
- Category names, icons, and budget limits
- App settings (currency, theme, PIN preference)
- Income entries you add manually
- Expense templates you save
This data is stored using localStorage within the app's sandboxed storage on your device. It is not accessible to other apps, and it is not backed up to any cloud service by SpendCast.
When you uninstall SpendCast, all locally stored data is permanently deleted from your device. We have no copy of it.
Android permissions
SpendCast requests the following Android permission:
- WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE — used only when you manually tap "Export / Backup" to save a JSON file to your device's Documents folder. This is optional and initiated entirely by you.
SpendCast does not request permissions for camera, microphone, contacts, location, phone calls, SMS, or internet access.
No third-party services
SpendCast does not integrate with any third-party services, including:
- Analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Firebase, Mixpanel, etc.)
- Advertising networks (AdMob, Meta Audience Network, etc.)
- Crash reporting tools (Sentry, Crashlytics, etc.)
- Cloud storage providers (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.)
- Social login or authentication providers
The app is built with React and Capacitor — standard open source frameworks. No data leaves your device through these frameworks.
Children under 13
SpendCast does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13 years of age. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it is safe for users of all ages.
Changes to this policy
If this Privacy Policy is updated, the revised version will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date. Continued use of SpendCast after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
Since SpendCast collects no personal data, policy changes would only reflect changes in app functionality — not changes in how personal data is handled.
